Job Description
OceanaGold are seeking a suitably qualified and reliable Operator – Water Treatment to optimize the performance of all operating circuits within the plant, whilst working safely and efficiently by following sound operating philosophies and standard operating procedures and actively participating in the departmental training scheme to ensure optimization of the plant always occurs. The role will report to the Supervisor – Process.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Maintains and monitor the required services for the Water treatment and Arsenic Treatment plant by ensuring sufficient supply of reagents for the operation, pumps and pipes for any problems or abnormalities
- Regularly inspects the Tailings Pipeline and operate the Water Treatment Plant on Start-up and Shutdown
- Operates the Forklift, Telescopic Handler, Truck-Mounted Crane, and other mobile unit in a safe and appropriate manner
- Carries out routine and minor maintenance of water treatment systems and related auxiliary facilities, equipment, and accessories
- Assists in mill and past backfill plant shutdowns, mechanical, electrical and metallurgical activities if required or directed by the supervisor
- Ensures that the processes under their supervision meet all specification set by the Metallurgy, MEPEO and Hydrogeology
- Regularly assists in gathering samples for metallurgical and water analysis
- Maintains detailed reports of operation completing and updating log sheets, logbooks and checklists accurately and on time each shift
- Reports to supervisor any damaged equipment or at-risk situation that could lead to facility shutdown
- Completes all required Standard Operating Procedures Sign-Off
Qualifications

- At least High School Graduate
- With a valid Professional Driver’s license
- Holder of TESDA Accredited Heavy Equipment Operation-Forklift NC II
- With knowledge and skill in the utilization of mobile equipment such as Skid Steer Loader, Forklift, Telehandler and Overhead Crane
- With any approved forklift/crane/wheels/rollers/truck licenses would be well regarded
- Experience on the following is an advantage: Knowledge in Truck-Mounted Crane operation and Haul Truck operation, With previous experience in Mining, Production, Manufacturing and Environment, With Industrial First Aid or Advanced First Aider, and
- Drive for continuous improvement and innovation
